In Cape Breton, follow Highway 105 North and take exit #20 right onto Highway 125 towards Sydney. Take exit #8 onto route 22 to Louisburg, following signs.
This fortress reconstruction is spectacular and might be considered the crowning jewel in the Parks Canada crown. Arrive early and be prepared to spend a FULL day exploring the Fortress!

On Cabot Trail head North through Ingonish; turn left at marked signs, just past Broad Cove Campground on right.
- Exit right on dirt road to Mary Ann Falls ( roughly 10km ).
- Exit right, then left at marked sign to Lake of Islands trail. Roughly 25km ( return ) climb to lookoff and wilderness campsites.
- Keep straight onto dirt road to Warren Lake. Nice trail around lake; beautiful sunset on lake.
