Tidnish Marine Railway

Tidnish Marine Railway From Halifax, follow Highway 102 to Truro. Take exit #13 or #14 into Truro and follow signs through Bible Hill to Upper Onslow. Exit onto Highway 311 north towards Nuttby/Tatamagouche. Follow Highway 311 through Tatamagouche as it joins Highway 6. Follow Highway 6 along North Shore through Pugwash, and exit right onto Highway 366. Follow Highway 366 through Amherst Shore to Tidnish.

Tidnish was the north end of the Old Chignecto Marine Railway, an impressive engineering project designed to pull wooden ships overland from the Northumberland Straight to Chignecto Bay, via a "Marine Railway". There are several interpretive displays in the area, including a picnic park on the site of the cradle wharf. As well, several trail systems have been developed on the old railbeds.
